Inspirations is a card making group which was started over 10 years ago in response to a challenge from God and and a stranger.  At first I ignored the idea as I was already busy with work, family and church activities and I thought that God could not possibly expect any more of me.  I then went to the Christian Resources Exhibition at Sandown Park where I found a stall called 'Time to Sow'.  There I found a variety of Christian stamps that I had not found elsewhere, such as 'baby dedication' and 'on your baptism'.  I got talking to Mandy who co-owns 'Time to Sow' with her husband Tim.  She asked me if I had ever thought of starting a card making group at my church.  You could have knocked me down with a feather and I left promising I would seriously consider and pray about this.

I spoke to my friend, Glynis, about this and together we decided that we would fix a date, advertise it in the church and  then throw out the fleece!  If we had 12 people attend, it would be a sign that we should go ahead and set up the group. Numbers rose and fell and then rose again as we watched the list each week.  Then on the day, 12 people walked through the door and Inspirations was born.

We generally meet 3 or 4 times a year, sometimes for a morning and once a year we try to have a longer day to make a more complicated project.  We enjoy each other's company and there is always a buzz over coffee and delicious home made cakes, with talk of the latest trends, hints and tips and just general conversation.

We generally give a choice of 2 classes and the cost of the session includes all materials and refreshments (except lunch on the long workshop), which at £5.00 and £10.00 we hope is considered good value.

We also have a table sale which offers a variety of card making supplies and profits made from this are donated to a charity from time to time.

We are a church based group and we want to share the love of Jesus with the group and  we try to support our members through prayer and in practical ways where possible, and we always have a thought for the day before we start the session.  We are an open and friendly group and anyone is invited to join us.  The workshops are suitable for everyone whether young or not so young, male or female, experienced or novice.  The leaders will demonstrate the techniques and then give help and advice as you make the cards so that everyone leaves with a stunning piece of art that you either keep because you can't bare to part with it or give it away and make someone's day.  Everyone loves a hand made card - it shows you really care - so why not come along  to the next session, have some 'me' time and unlock your creative side!  A warm welcome awaits you - just follow the link below for details.
